For 111.803 m² of roof area, 10 percent waste gives 122.984 m². At 3 m² coverage per unit, the exact result is about 40.995 units and the whole-unit planning result is 41.
Your assumptions stay visible
Coverage must come from the product information applicable to the exact material and layout. The site does not scrape supplier data, quote prices or claim a guaranteed order quantity.
Waste depends on roof complexity, pattern, laps, breakage and site practice. Change it deliberately and record why.

Inputs, units and calculation stages
Base area is the checked sloping roof surface. Waste percentage is an explicit visitor assumption and may deliberately be zero. Coverage is the effective square area covered by one chosen pack, sheet, roll, bundle or custom product unit.
Multiply base area by one plus waste divided by 100. Divide the adjusted area by effective coverage per product unit. Preserve the exact quotient for checking, then round upward to a whole product unit for the planning result.
Worked examples
A 111.803 m² roof with 10% waste becomes 122.983 m². At 3 m² effective coverage per pack, the quotient is 40.994 packs and the whole-unit planning result is 41 packs.
A 2,400 ft² roof with zero waste and 32.5 ft² coverage per bundle gives 73.846 bundles, rounded upward to 74. Zero waste is mathematically valid but must be a deliberate project assumption.
Errors, limits and responsible use
Negative area, waste or coverage is rejected, and coverage cannot be zero. RoofFigured does not validate whether a very high allowance is commercially reasonable. Product dimensions, laps, exposure, patterns, breakage, packaging, batch constraints and supplier rules remain outside the formula.
